Andre

Andre

This is Andre, and I love his shirt and pose! This painting was such a challenge, but I absolutely love how it came out. The reference photo is a little blurry, which always makes a likeness a little difficult, but I think I managed to capture him!

Amy and Mya

Amy and Mya-web

My cousin and her beautiful baby girl! A Father’s Day gift for her dad. Mya’s sweet little face was a challenge, but I love painting people at fun angles. Plus she’s wearing a feisty animal print tank!

I changed Amy’s hair by request. The photo reference was from an Instagram photo, so I took a little liberty to fill out the frame with some color.

Marlee

Marlee

This is Marlee, my cousin’s little girl. I think this might be the first time that I’ve painted a baby. I wanted to capture some color in her sweet face, so I added a lot of pinks and reds. So sweet!

Declan and Copper

Declan and Copper

I am in love with these two boys–and anyone who meets them loves them, too! Declan is best friends with his beagle buddy Copper. I picked this photo out myself despite Declan’s cute face being cut off because I just loved the way it captured their friendship.

This painting looks a little different–this was the first one I painted, and I used canvas board instead of paper. I discovered Arches oil paper soon after painting this, which is my new favorite surface. The fine tooth of the paper allows me to paint more accurate details, which is especially helpful working at such a small size (5×7″).
